About ChartsList
ChartsList is an independent site that tracks how trending videos and music videos perform on YouTube. It shows which videos are gaining the most views, where in the world they are charting and how that changes from one day to the next.
What you can find here
- Three sections: All videos covers every YouTube category (music, gaming, entertainment, sports, film and more); Music has its own charts built from YouTube's music category; Shorts lists trending YouTube Shorts worldwide and by country. Shorts are kept out of the first two.
- Latest: the videos that gained the most views in the past 24 hours.
- Trending: the videos that appear on the most country charts at the same time.
- Countries: the trending videos for each of 111 countries, with daily position changes.
- Channels: channels ranked by the combined views of their tracked videos.
- Top lists: most viewed and most liked videos, plus weekly and monthly rankings.
- Video pages: view counts, daily change, country positions and background on the song.
Where the numbers come from
View, like and comment counts and each country's lists of popular videos and popular music videos are public data read through YouTube API Services. We read them at least once a day and store one snapshot per video per day.
Song details such as release date, album, songwriters and producers come from MusicBrainz, an open music encyclopedia maintained by volunteers. They are shown only when we can match a video to a song with confidence, so some videos have no song details.
How the charts are calculated
Daily views are the difference between two daily snapshots of a video's total view count. Position changes compare today's chart with the previous day's. The worldwide trending chart ranks videos by the number of country charts they are on, then by their best position. The notes under "Why it's trending" are generated from these same figures.
Limits you should know about
- YouTube does not publish an official Shorts chart. Our Shorts lists contain vertical videos of three minutes or less published in the past week, found through YouTube search in each country and on its trending list, ranked by total views. The same rule keeps Shorts out of the other charts. A few videos may be sorted into the wrong group.
- We track videos that have appeared on a country chart since the site started. The lists do not cover every video on YouTube, and channel totals count tracked videos only.
- Figures are snapshots. They can differ from the live numbers on YouTube, and YouTube sometimes adjusts counts after the fact.
- We keep daily statistics for 30 days, so history and rankings on this site cover at most the past 30 days.
- When a video is removed from YouTube or made private, we stop tracking it the same day and remove its title and all other details from its page. Everything we stored about it is deleted within 30 days.
- Song details are matched automatically and can occasionally be wrong. Tell us if you spot a mistake.
